Where to play golf in Bulgaria
Bulgaria's golf is in two places. The Black Sea coast north of Varna has three championship courses within a few minutes of each other, and the Pirin Mountains in the south west have one superb all inclusive golf resort.

Bulgaria's best courses opened in the last twenty years and were designed by two famous names: Gary Player on the coast and Ian Woosnam at Lighthouse and Pirin.
Thracian Cliffs: Gary Player's clifftop course and the best in Bulgaria. Several holes play over the Black Sea, and it hosted the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2013.
BlackSeaRama: Another Gary Player design, with sea views from most holes, canyons and lakes. A good partner round to Thracian Cliffs.
Lighthouse Golf: An Ian Woosnam course near the coast, wide and playable, with the Lighthouse resort right next to it.
Pirin Golf & Country Club: Ian Woosnam's mountain course near Bansko, with views of the Pirin peaks and unlimited golf in our all inclusive packages.

When is the best time to play golf in Bulgaria?
The golf season in Bulgaria runs from spring to autumn. Choose your dates by what matters most to your group: conditions, price or heat.

Getting to Bulgaria
Flights: around 3 hours from London. Fly to Varna for the Black Sea courses, with most direct UK flights in the summer season, or to Sofia for Pirin.
Transfers: Thracian Cliffs, BlackSeaRama and Lighthouse are about an hour from Varna airport. Pirin is about 2 to 2.5 hours from Sofia airport. Airport transfers are included in our packages.

Beyond the golf
On the coast, the seaside town of Balchik has a palace and botanical garden right on the water, and Cape Kaliakra's red cliffs are a short drive from the courses. Varna has a long sea garden, Roman baths and plenty of bars and restaurants for a night out. At Pirin, the old town of Bansko is full of traditional taverns, and Rila Monastery makes a good rest day trip.
