Golf in Ireland at a glance
Golf holidays in Ireland mean links golf at its best. The island has around a third of the world's links courses, from the dunes of Donegal and the Causeway Coast to the clifftops of Old Head and the classic Kerry links at Ballybunion. Add Ryder Cup courses at The K Club and Adare Manor, and there's something for every group.
We cover both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Fly into Dublin or Belfast for a short break, or bring the car on the ferry and play your way along the coast. We put the whole trip together: hotel and tee times in one booking, with small deposits and each golfer paying their own share.

Where to play golf in Ireland
Ireland splits into four golf areas. Choose a city break around Dublin, bucket-list links in the south west, or a coastal road trip through Donegal and Northern Ireland.
East
Dublin and the counties around it: the easiest short break in Ireland.
Dublin has the biggest choice of golf in Ireland, from Royal Dublin and The Island on the coast to The K Club, Carton House and Druids Glen inland.
Most courses are 20 to 60 minutes from the airport, so you can fly in, play and be in Temple Bar the same evening.
South West
Bucket-list golf in Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
West & North West
Galway and the wild links of Donegal, plus Slieve Russell in County Cavan.
Northern Ireland
The Causeway Coast links, County Antrim and Belfast.
Northern Ireland is one of the best links road trips in golf. Base yourself in Portrush for the Causeway Coast courses, stay at Galgorm Resort in County Antrim, or stay in Belfast city centre and play Royal Belfast.
It's a short flight to Belfast or City of Derry, or an easy ferry crossing from Scotland or Liverpool with your clubs in the car.

Ireland's best golf courses for groups
Ireland is famous for its links, but its parkland courses are just as good. These are the courses our groups ask for most:
- The Royal Dublin Golf Club (Dublin): a classic links on Bull Island, just minutes from the city centre.
- The Island Golf Club (Dublin): tight, rugged links through big dunes on a peninsula north of the city.
- The K Club Palmer North Course (Dublin): arnold Palmer's parkland layout and host of the 2006 Ryder Cup.
- Portstewart Strand Course (Northern Ireland): huge dunes and sea views on the Causeway Coast.
- Ballyliffin Glashedy Links (North West Ireland): a big, remote Donegal links on the Inishowen Peninsula.
- Old Head Golf Links (Cork): built on a headland with cliffs on every side. A true bucket-list round.
- Ballybunion Golf Club (Killarney): one of the great traditional links, on the Kerry coast.
- The Golf Course at Adare Manor (Limerick): immaculate parkland and host of the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Where to stay on an Ireland golf holiday
- Adare Manor: a 5-star manor house with the Ryder Cup course in its grounds.
- The K Club and Carton House: 5-star estates west of Dublin, each with two championship courses.
- Fota Island Resort: a 5-star resort near Cork with its own championship courses.
- Galgorm Resort: a spa resort in County Antrim, handy for Galgorm Castle and the Causeway Coast.
- Portrush Atlantic Hotel: on the seafront in Portrush, close to the Causeway Coast links.
- Slieve Russell Hotel: a golf and country club hotel in County Cavan with its own course.
Planning a group golf trip to Ireland
We've organised group golf trips for over 24 years. Here's how an Ireland trip works with us:
- Small deposits secure your tee times and rooms early, which matters for the famous links in summer.
- Individual payments mean each golfer pays their own balance. No chasing your mates for money.
- One booking covers your hotel and tee times.
- Flights and ferries are booked separately. Fly or sail in and we'll sort everything else.
- Golf societies are welcome. See our GroupiaGolf Society page.
When is the best time to play golf in Ireland?
| Months | What to expect | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| March to April | Fresh, changeable weather and quieter courses. | Value |
| May to August | Long days, firm links and light until late in the evening. | The best golf |
| September to October | Often mild and settled, with fewer visitors. | The sweet spot |
| November to February | Wind, rain and short days, but links courses stay open. | Hardy golfers |
Short break or bucket-list trip?
A night near Dublin is a great value way to start. Two nights on the Causeway Coast gives you proper links golf. And for a trip you'll talk about for years, there's Adare Manor:
Getting to Ireland and Northern Ireland
- Dublin: flights from most UK airports, around 1 to 1.5 hours. Most Dublin courses are 20 to 60 minutes from the airport.
- Northern Ireland: fly to Belfast City, Belfast International or City of Derry. Portrush is about an hour from Belfast.
- South and west: fly to Cork for Old Head and Fota Island, to Kerry or Shannon for Ballybunion and Killarney, and to Shannon for Adare Manor and Galway.
- By ferry: Holyhead to Dublin, Cairnryan to Belfast or Larne, Liverpool to Dublin or Belfast, and Fishguard or Pembroke to Rosslare. Ideal if your group wants to bring the car and clubs.
Beyond the golf
Tour the Guinness Storehouse and Temple Bar in Dublin, walk the Giant's Causeway and visit the Old Bushmills Distillery in Northern Ireland, drive the Ring of Kerry from Killarney, or enjoy live music in Galway's pubs. Wherever you play, the nineteenth hole is half the fun.
"Groupia are amazing! They took the stress out of me doing everything myself."
"Had a great time and the booking process was easy and straightforward!"
"Would definitely recommend using Groupia to arrange similar events."
"I had a fantastic time booking the weekend away. 10/10 all the way through."
